A Christmas Lesson:

No, he is not in the Bible: But the lesson was ( "Sell what you own and give the money to the poor.")

Yes, most adults and some children don't believe in him ... His name: St. Nicholas aka (Santa)

He really did exist...He was born during the third century in the village of Patara which is now known as the Southern Coast of Turkey. His parents raised him to be a devout Christian. He lived by Jesus' word which was to "Sell what you own and give the money to the poor." He used his inheritance to assist the needy, the sick and the suffering. He lived his life serving God and was later named Bishop of Myra. He became known for his love for children, his genorosity of those in need and his love for ships and sailors. He suffered for his faith and was later exhiled and imprisoned.

He died December 6th, 343 A.D. in Myra and was buried in his cathedral church, a manna (relic) formed his grave, this liquid was said to have had healing powers thus fostering the growth of our devotion to him.

So if his day of celebration is Dec. 6th why do we celebrate it on the 25th? Pope Julius I decided to establish a date for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. As the actual time of year for this event was unknown, the Pope decided to assign the holiday to December 25th. There had long been a pagan midwinter festival at this time of year and the Pope hoped to use the holiday to christianize the celebrations.
